PRINCIPALI AREE DI RICERCA
1) FISICA DELLA MATERIA INTERSTELLARE
Proprietà dinamiche, chimiche e termiche del mezzo interstellare, dal collasso di nubi molecolari magnetizzate alla formazione ed evoluzione di dischi circumstellari.
2) UNIVERSO PRIMORDIALE
Evoluzione termica e chimica del gas primordiale, dall'epoca della ricombinazione alla formazione delle prime stelle.
3) EVOLUZIONE CHIMICA GALATTICA
Evoluzione chimica delle galassie, con particolare attenzione alla produzione e distruzione di elementi di interesse cosmologico (da H a Li) e elementi di cattura neutronica (da Ba a Eu).
4) STORIA DELL'ASTRONOMIA
Le prime esperienze ottocentesche di spettroscopia stellare e la nascita dell'astrofisica in Italia, con particolare attenzione alla fondazione e la storia degli osservatori astronomici italiani.

1) PHYSICS OF THE INTERSTELLAR MEDIUM
The dynamical, chemical and thermal properties of the interstellar medium, from the collapse of magnetized molecular cloud cores to the formation and early evolution of protostellar disks.
2) EARLY UNIVERSE
The chemical and thermal evolution of the primordial gas, from the epoch of recombination to the the formation of the first stars.
3) GALACTIC CHEMICAL EVOLUTION
The chemical evolution of galaxies, with special attention to the production and destruction of elements of cosmological interests (from H to Li) and neutron-capture elements (from Ba to Eu).
4) HISTORY OF ASTRONOMY
The earliest experiences in stellar spectroscopy and the birth of astrophysics in Italy, with special attention to the foundation and early history of the Italian astrophysical observatories.
