Introductory remarks and mathematical complements
Spatial coordinates, vectors and related operations, foundamental quantities. Definition of physical units.
Kinematics of the mass point
One dimensional motion: Definition of velocity and acceleration.
Two dimensional motion: Definition of velocity and acceleration. Trajectory. Circular motion. Kinematics quantities in a curvilinear trajectory.
Dynamics of the mass point.
Force as a vector. First Second and Third law of Newton. Equilibrium. Motion with different forces applied: constant, elastic, viscouseos. Pendulum. Motion and forces in two dimensions.
Energy and work.
Definition of mechanical work. Kinetic energy theorem. Definition of power. Conservative forces, potential energy and mechanical energy conservation.
Mechanics of systems and universal gravitation
Linear momentum and its conservation. Collisions in one dimension : elastic and anelastic cases. Center of mass. First cardinal equation of dynamics. Angular and force momenta. Second cardinal equation of dynamics.
Angular momentum conservation. Rigid body: equilibrium, kinematics, rotation with fixed axis. Rotational kinetic energy, moment of inertia.
