Type of Assessment
The exam is based on two trials: preparation and discussion of (1) a teaching unit based on the ministerial guidelines and (2) of a seminar on a popular subject of topical interest, both to be agreed with the lecturers.
Prior to the exam, students are required to perform an online test on the knowledge needed to teach Biology in Secondary Schools. Admission to the exam is granted only for students obtaining at least 18 (pass mark) in the test.

- Analysis of knowledges and competences to be acquired in Natural Science and in Biology by pupils during secondary schools according to guidelines by the Italian Ministry for Education.

- Teaching biology by direct experience; field sampling, biology laboratory, data collecting and elaboration, searching databases.

- Projecting teaching modules or units for biology classes (e.g. the cell; monocellular organisms, pluricellular organisms; cell metabolism; cell cycles; life cycles; reproduction; biological evolution; biodiversity and classifications; mankind and environment; human evolution; genetics).
